Vakulism ‎– Edelweiss Reflection (Bandura).

This Japanese-inspired EP from Konotop’s finest was released under a new variation of his Vakula alias, and it’s truly beautiful stuff from start to finish. While the opening title track is a superb slice of late-night deepness for the discening DJ, I’ve found myself coming back again and again to the psychedelic, beatless closing cut, The Eve of Metaphors, with its hypnotic looping sequences and spoken Japanese vocals. (The title is presumably a nod to Vakula’s Metaphors album – released in February and immediately sold out – which delves further into this ambient realm.) Top-drawer music from an artist who’s always been intriguing and is now firmly in a league of his own.
