I’ve had a policy of saying ‘yes’ to everyone who’s asked me for a mix so far this year, which means I’ve produced a steady stream of them while on lockdown, so here are the latest four. I’ll be slowing down for the remainder of 2020 and focusing a bit more on production. (The next Nuclear Family 12″ is starting to take shape – watch this space…)
I put together another vintage selection for this crew from Chile, but with a slightly more housey flavour then some of my other recent mixes. Bookended by a couple of Strictly Rhythm deep house classics, the tracklist includes Chris Gray, Glenn Underground and Donnie Tempo.
etc radio mix
This is a mix I recorded back in February for m50‘s ‘etc’ radio show, which ordinarily airs on WNUR in Chicago. They’ve been off-air since March due to the pandemic, so this eventually saw the light of day in July via a few different online streams, and is now archived on Soundcloud. My mix is the first hour of the show and I’m quite proud of it – mostly new-ish tracks spanning downtempo, ambient, electro and techno, from the likes of Cloudface, Nummer, DJ Guy, Carl Finlow and James Booth.
I pulled out a US-heavy selection of 90s techno for this Mexican crew who invited me to contribute to their podcast series. Artists include Morgan Geist, Dan Curtin, Shake, Derrick May, Strand and Claude Young.
This is a recording of my set from the final night of live streaming on the Further_In channel, on 4 July. This time Laurence and I were joined by Dave Siska, and I opened up with this selection of deep techno with a healthy dose of Detroit, including cuts from UR, Shake, Carl Craig, Robert Hood, Kenny Larkin and Octave One.
